What is Richard Bland? 

Richard Bland College is an extension of William & Mary with the mission to prepare students for university transfer through academically rigorous programs grounded in the liberal arts tradition. Located south of Petersburg, it offers affordable, high-quality two year degree with transfer agreements with forty colleges and universities.

Who is eligible for the credits?

Teachers who have completed the CodeVA training programs for the Coaches Academies, Exploring Computer Science or AP Computer Science Principles. The entire training program must be completed to be awarded the credit.

What credit will I receive?

The credit is for RBC 299 Special Topics in Computer Science. The course is three credits and will be assigned a letter grade. The credit can be used for relicensure and/or towards an add-on endorsement in computer science.

How can I get my credits?

You will need to request an official transcript through the Richard Bland Registrar’s office.

Can I get the credit two years in a row?

Only if you participate in two trainings.  As an example, you complete both the Exploring Computer Science and the AP Computer Science Principles trainings.

How is this graded

A letter grade (A-F) will be assigned upon completion of the training program.

When will my credit be available?

The credits are processed after the final Saturday sessions in March and should be available in Richard Bland’s system by July or August.

Is this a graduate credit?

No, since Richard Bland is a Junior College it issues undergraduate credits.

What are the requirements?

• Attend all training sessions.

• Create a recruitment plan describing how you will recruit a diverse group of students to your classes.

• Participate in all data collection.
